Aqua Hygiene Products is a British company with a proven track record of over 20 years in scientific research - invention - manufacture.
It is widely-believed that the single-largest source of Legionnaires’ disease infections is attributed to underused conventional showers of the mixer valve type. Our mission is to reduce the number of infections through the wider and wiser use of our improved water system designs and products to combat the well-documented risks from legionella bacteria.
We support clients in all sectors, ranging from SME’s to Government Departments with projects valued at over £1 billion.
We offer comprehensive support as standard with the supply of Safepurge products. For over two decades we have supported client requirements from single unit installations to supporting the projects of H.M. Government requiring several thousands of showers.
Our Technical Support Team provides expert advice prior to and after sales support, however large the project.
Our Manufacturing Production Team is well equipped and highly experienced in meeting the exact requirements of the largest-scale clients.
Safepurge designs are proven over the fullness of time, both legionella control efficacy and product reliability continue to exceed expectations.
We design for whole-life-cycle performance, achieved through ethical and sustainable means.
Targeting for optimum:
- Legionella control efficacy
- Reliability and long life
- Low maintenance
- Comfort - through the prudent use of power and water
Our design philosophy is promoted by the UK’s Design Council - Department of Trade & Industry, to inspire the best use of design
Many milestones have been passed on our journey in combating the reasonably foreseeable risks to health from underused conventional showers:
1987 - 1995: Privately financed scientific research and product development programme.
1995 - 1997: Independent scientific trials conducted by the Medical Microbiology Department at Royal Liverpool University Teaching Hospitals. Safepurge legionella control efficacy proven when installed in a well known water system contaminated with legionella bacteria.
1997: Aqua Hygiene Products Ltd founded - manufacturing and testing facility established.
1998: Safepurge performance announced by the medical microbiologist who led the independent scientific trial at the Royal Liverpool University Hospitals, during a state of the art lecture at the International Symposium on Legionella, Edinburgh.
2001: The Health & Safety Commission & Executive advocate the Safepurge legionella control procedure described in ACoP & Guidance (L8: 166).
2003: Safe-purge described in HSE’s audit check lists for legionella control. Safepurge showers featured in the HSE’s legionella control videos, filmed at Holiday Inn.
2006: The Department of Health (HTM04-01: part B) describes the Safepurge legionella control procedure as effective. Since this time EWGLI (European Guidelines) and other Health & Safety Authorities have described the legionella control procedure founded for Safepurge.
2008: New facility built, where we continue to develop new technologies and products with our partners.
2014: DoH, Health Technical Memorandum 04–01: 7.44. HSE, HSG274 Part 2; 2.167, 2.168.
To date - many thousands of Safepurge showers sold worldwide, supporting projects ranging in size from just one shower installed in offices to several thousands in army barracks.
